Gloucestershire Research School
Balcarras Teaching School Hub is delighted that the Gloucestershire Research School gained their designation in 2023. We are looking forward to collaborating on numerous projects going forward. Please see below for information on the research school, including their events and podcasts.
GLA Multi Academy Trust
The GLA currently comprises 8 Gloucestershire primary schools, and one Worcestershire First School with a total of over 2,500 pupils and pre-schoolers.
A 10th school is joining the trust in 2025 as the trust is opening another new free school.
The GLA Trust vision is ‘Outstanding outcomes for children’:

The creation of the GLA Trust was a natural progression of our belief in a partnership ethos and our determination to ensure that more young people receive an exceptional education through Quality First Teaching. Working together to take schools out of Ofsted Category or preventing them entering category meant we understood the power and cost effectiveness of collaboration and collective efficacy. While each school within the Trust continues to strive for this within its own setting, through effective recruitment and teaching and learning policies, we have benefitted from the shared capacity and expertise across our schools that has significantly impacted the outcomes we are able to achieve. The GLA has recently achieved accreditation as an EEF Research School.
The Gloucestershire Research School is committed to developing a
culture of evidence-based practice in schools across the south west and beyond. By influencing what happens in the classrooms through our
professional development and engagement in the system, we aim
to put educational research into practice and improve learning experiences and prospects for all pupils.
Coming soon
It’s the start of a fresh academic year and we are raring to help you implement EEF research evidence into your setting!
As a result of positive feedback from our two sold-out implementation sessions last year, we are planning more implementation training, plus sessions dedicated to understanding disadvantage, metacognition, SEND and literacy.
We are currently putting final touches together for our Tackling Disadvantage Conference in just five weeks time on 9th October in Stonehouse.
